Work Begins On World's Biggest Cricket Stadium In Ahmedabad

Gujarat will be home to the world's biggest cricket stadium in the near future. The Sardar Patel Stadium at Motera will be dismantled to make way for a new stadium with a seating capacity of 110,000 -- bigger than the Melbourne Cricket Ground and the Lord's Cricket Ground in England. The groundbreaking ceremony was carried out at the stadium on Monday.
The stadium will be operational in two years time and will be constructed at a cost of Rs 700 crore. The new stadium, expected to be completed in two years.

The foundation stone for the mammoth stadium was laid by Parimal Nathwani, Vice President of GCA and Group President, Reliance Industries Ltd, apart from other GCA officials.
